Family

I'm sitting here with my family.  We are on the front porch, my husband and I.  He's relaxing, patting his foot to the music coming from my laptop.  I am (or was) working on the last assignment for my summer class (I'll get right back to it, I hope).  Our daughter is playing with her water play table, making 'soup' for her 'friends' out of water and leaves.  I thought to myself, how horrible it would be if I did not pause to notice this blessing... this moment.  It seems small, and it is.  But who said awesome could not be synonymous with simple?  Treasure your blessings, beloved.

“There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of human society, are created, strengthened and maintained” ~Winston Churchill

"The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together." ~Erma Bombeck

  1. Wow, so very true. STOPPING and noticing your blessing is something that many of us don't do. Yeah, we can sit up and talk about what we have, but are we really taking it into consideration? Hmmm....

Yet we want to play the blame game on God when things aren't so "blessed" for us. In actuality, we need to understand that it's even a blessing when we can complain about us not being blessed ya know.

Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing. These things, my brethren, ought not to be so. James 3: 10 People....don't take your blessing for granted!

  2. Thanks for your words, Quiana! As always, your thoughts and words are so simply profound. I hope you keep reading and commenting...

  3. I must second Quiana's emotion. There are so many of us who love to use the expression,"God Bless You" to friends and family. I think,"God has blessed you" is often more appropriate. In the midst of our trouble, pain, and hard times there is always a blessing. Those simple blessings...you wake up to a new day, you head off to a job that provides for you and/or your family, you are able to think straight, you drink a glass of cool (clean)water, and on and on every single day. I know I have been blessed.

I do know that God blesses his crop, I believe that his strongest blessing is Knowledge and Wisdom. And that is what makes a strong Family.
Wisdom: is a deep understanding and realizing of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to choose or act to consistently produce the optimum results with a minimum of time and energy.
Knowledge: awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation. A confident understanding of a subject with the ability to use it for a specific purpose.

Some would add love to this , then I will ask them to read it again and again, until the see...
